Higunom is a naked island located in the municipality of Arteche Eastern Samar. Honestly, this is the first time that I've heard about this town. I was like 'really, there's a place called Arteche? Okay let's go there'. I wasn't really expecting much but when we went there I was quite impressed. Not only because they have this stunning island but because the town itself is smoke-free! We really didn't see anyone smoking and you will not find a store selling cigarettes within the town proper. The locals seemed happy as they would usually talk about it in an apparently proud way.

San Juan By The Bay, Sta. Rita Samar
San Juan by The Bay is located in Brgy. San Juan, Sta. Rita Samar (approximately 5 minutes away from San Juanico bridge). From San Juanico bridge, go straight and choose the left side road from the first intersection (road going to Sta. Rita). Slow down until you see the 'San Juan By the Bay' signage, then turn left. You'll pass by a narrow car pathway of Brgy. San Juan. Go straight and turn left. I wouldn't recommend going there on commute but if you really want to, just ride a jeepney from New Bus Terminal going to Sta. Rita Samar and tell the driver to drop you off in Brgy. San Juan. Or you can negotiate with a tricycle driver to bring you there. I guess 100-200 pesos fare would be enough (if from New Bus Terminal).
